Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen (Review)

Though this is one of my old reviews I thought I would share it. This is one of my favorite books.

Water for Elephants Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
6/5/08-Just started reading this book. The first few pages already have me hooked. Can't wait to get to the next page!

This was such a great book! I can't say enough about it! Great story line & such memorable characters. I couldn't wait to turn to the next page yet didn't want the book to end. Very funny, touching story. I highly recommend to everyone. Especially those who like the circus/carnival reads. Definitely a book I will revisit in the future.

Thanks so much for following! Here's the synopsis for Water for Elephants...As a young man in 1932, Jacob Jankowski was tossed by fate onto a rickety train that was home to the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. It was the early part of the great Depression, and for Jacob, now ninety, the circus world he remembers was both his salvation and a living hell. A veterinary student just shy of a degree, he was put in charge of caring for the circus menagerie. It was there that he met Marlena, the beautiful equestrian star married to August, the charismatic but twisted animal trainer. And he met Rosie, an untrainable elephant who was the great gray hope for this third-rate traveling show. The bond that grew among this unlikely trio was one of love and trust, and, ultimately, it was their only hope for survival.
